Papo Otter 50233

The Papo Otter 50233 brings a lively river-dwelling animal into imaginative play. Children can place it beside an imaginary stream, guide it through a wetland adventure or add it to a wider collection of animals and habitats.

An otter makes an appealing character for movement-rich storytelling. It might swim through a river, investigate the water’s edge or meet other creatures during an exploration. Children can decide where the story begins and use the figure to create scenes that change as the play develops.

Follow an otter through the water

Use the figure in small-world play with blue fabric, blocks or other suitable play materials to suggest a river landscape. It can become the animal a young explorer is watching, a companion on a nature walk or the centre of a story about finding a safe route home.

The otter also gives children a gentle prompt to think about habitats and the natural world. They can compare its imagined river home with the settings of other animal figures, create a simple food-finding story or invent a meeting between wildlife characters. Moving the figure between scenes encourages hand control, planning and imaginative language.
